Drawings

A big part of my practise lies in drawing and enjoying the strange and often wonderful things that wash up on the beaches - and at times get thrown up onto the grassy cliffs by the sea - on wild days. Bird skulls, seal bones and small treasures like sea urchins and pottery are to be found when beachcombing.

Some of the most startling views are down at your feet, swathes of sticky seaweed, gelatinous sea urchins and soft sponges, whole skeletons, dead sea birds with weirdly cushioned feet and walls of pale green lichen poking their odd, brittle little mushroom flowers into the salty air. All these colours and textures inform my woven work. But turn a small delicate bird's skull upside down and you have an exquisite object more sculptural than even the most delicate artwork.

These drawings are all for sale. For further information or to request a work for delivery email kathrynparry@live.co.uk
