 Sea Pinks: Armeria maritima
During the summer on Fair Isle the cliffs and edges of the island dot themselves with fluffy pink baubles.
These little flowers dance and bob in the light summer breezes of sunny days and hold themselves almost flat to the ground as they are swept around by suddenly strong sea scented gusts.
As summer draws slowly to a close and Autumn hues creep into the landscape, Sea Pinks are valiantly some of the last flowers to lose their colour, gently drifting into the soft browns and brittle ochres of Autumn as they seed and disappear.  |
